[This draft IPRO description will be further developed and refined.]
The purpose of this IPRO project is to develop a better understanding about ridership along the Rock Island Metra line that extends from Chicago to Joliet with a stop at 35th Street. The IPRO team will review ridership trends associated with communities along Metra lines, as well as the historical and anticipated development of the communities themselves. The team will also do field work to observe the ridership experience. This research can lead to insights that spark creative concepts to improve ridership and the commuter rail experience in significant ways. The IPRO team will have the opportunity to meet with Metra staff and ride the Metra line as-needed in order to inspire thinking about this challenging project.
One area of keen interest to Metra is to better understand ridership experiences and trends along the Rock Island Metra line that extends from Chicago to Joliet, with a stop at 35th Street. Just as interesting, will be investigations of the areas around rail stops such as the 35th street stop, in order to develop insights about the opportunities and challenges of serving people who live and work nearby or in sufficient proximity to walk, use Divvy bikes and other modes of transportation.
