COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The world today is built on social structures that often push people to the fringes. In Social Innovation and Design Thinking, students take a human-centered design thinking approach to create a social innovation designed for a group of people on the fringes. By going through the design thinking process, students define a user, establish a problem statement, and prototype an innovative idea that addresses their user’s needs. Students are split into teams of 4-5 and spend the semester diving deep into the life of their users. The culmination of the semester is the delivery of a prototype and product pitch.
