Team building is the essence of the IPRO experience, as evidenced by the program’s tagline: It takes a team!
Team Building Resources
During the first or second class session each semester, IPRO teams are given an introduction to the IPRO experience that includes information on the IPRO learning objectives, the stages of team building, roles different members can play on a team, and how high-performance teams operate. Information from this session is listed below.
The IPRO Experience: Team Building and Learning Objectives
Teams can also consider having each member take specific roles during meetings. This can help facilitate discussion and eliminate counterproductive team behaviors. A list of team member roles with descriptions for each is listed below. When the document is printed out, the pages can easily be folded into table tents for use during meetings.
In addition, a book on effective teamwork, Teamwork Is an Individual Skill, is available for teams to borrow from the IPRO Office. This book offers best practices, tips, and developmental activities for taking personal responsibility for the success of teams and other relationships at work and provides a set of individual mental skills and behaviors that can help create highly responsible and productive relationships.
